About Us
About Kernow Weather Team
Kernow Weather Team was founded in February 2017 as a friendly, professional, and independently run Cornwall-based weather service, created from a genuine passion for the skies above Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
What began as a small local weather page has grown into one of Cornwall’s most trusted independent weather communities, providing daily forecasts, live radar, storm updates, pollen alerts, coastal conditions, and in-depth weather explainers to thousands of people across the county and beyond.
At KWT, we specialise in the weather that makes Cornwall unique. From fast-moving Atlantic storms and strong coastal winds to sea fog, misty moorland mornings, thunderstorms, frost hollows, and those famous Cornish microclimates where one village is in sunshine while the next is under thick cloud, we focus on the local detail that national forecasts often miss.
Our forecasts combine professional meteorology, live weather station data, radar, satellite imagery, lightning tracking, air pressure trends, rainfall totals, pollen information, and coastal weather insights to help communities, visitors, businesses, event organisers, schools, campers, surfers, and local media make confident decisions every day.
We believe weather should be clear, useful, and easy to understand. That is why KWT is built around translating complex weather science into straightforward local information that helps people plan their journeys, events, beach days, school runs, workdays, and severe weather preparations.
More than just forecasts, the Kernow Weather Team is about community. We are proud to support Cornwall through trusted storm warnings, seasonal weather explainers, educational posts, local reporting, and real-time updates that keep people informed when the weather matters most.
Because in Cornwall, weather is never just part of the background – it shapes daily life, local business, tourism, travel, and the coastline itself.
Kernow Weather Team is proud to be Cornwall’s weather partner, helping people stay informed, prepared, and connected to the skies above our beautiful county.

Empowering Futures Through Innovative Vision
At Kernow Weather Team, our mission is simple: to provide Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly with trusted, easy-to-understand, and truly local weather information that helps people make better decisions every day.
Cornwall’s weather is unlike anywhere else in the UK. Surrounded by the Atlantic, shaped by miles of rugged coastline, exposed headlands, sheltered coves, river valleys, and the higher ground of Bodmin Moor, conditions can change dramatically over very short distances.
It is not unusual for one part of Cornwall to be enjoying sunshine and blue skies while another is under thick sea fog, drizzle, or heavy showers. Coastal winds can vary significantly between the north and south coasts, while inland valleys and moorland areas often develop their own local frost, mist, and low cloud conditions.
These unique microclimates are what make Cornwall both fascinating and challenging to forecast.
Our mission is to bridge the gap between large-scale national forecasts and the real local impacts felt by communities, businesses, schools, visitors, campers, surfers, coastal venues, and event organisers across Cornwall.
By combining professional meteorology, live weather station data, radar, satellite imagery, lightning tracking, coastal observations, and local forecasting experience, we turn complex weather science into clear and practical information that is relevant to life in Cornwall.
Whether it is helping someone decide if they can peg the washing out, warning campers about strong coastal winds, supporting events with weather risk guidance, tracking sea fog around the Lizard, or explaining why Four Lanes is under low cloud while Newquay is sunny, our mission is always the same:
to make Cornwall’s weather make sense.
